Hi Product Hunt! We make getSVG, getPNG and getReport, small free tools that run in your browser. getPDF is the fourth, and the one we needed most ourselves. Most free PDF sites upload your file to their server, then limit how many files you can do, add a watermark, or ask you to sign up before you can download. getPDF does the work on your device instead: PDFium, the PDF engine inside Chrome, runs in your browser tab as WebAssembly. There is no server processing files, so there is nothing to limit and nothing to charge for. What you can do today, free, with no account: • Edit the text that is already in a PDF, in the file's own font when it has the letters. No white box painted over the old words. • Sign, fill forms, highlight, add text, and redact for real: the text under a redaction box is taken out of the file. • Merge, split, organise, rotate and compress, including to a size such as "under 100 KB". • OCR for scans in 11 languages; PDF to Word, Excel, JPG, PNG, text and Markdown; photos into PDF. How to check that nothing is uploaded: use any tool once, turn Wi-Fi off, and drop another file. It still works. The browser is also told to refuse connections to any other address. What it does not do yet: it cannot retype the words on a scan (run OCR first), PDF to Word gives editable flowing text rather than a pixel-perfect copy, and a very large file is limited by your device's memory. Word to PDF is on the list. It is paid for by optional tips. No ads, no accounts, nothing locked. We would love your feedback, most of all a PDF it gets wrong.
