What actually moves distribution in the first weeks after shipping? Two-week observation

by

Following up on the first post in this series and the thread it kicked off on app distribution. I ran a two-week observation on organic distribution and want to bring the results back for discussion, not conclusions. Translation tool was used again, so please read past awkward phrasing.

The reason I am posting again : the same question that came up last time is still open for me, and I now have two weeks of data that only made it sharper. I would rather test my reading against yours than sit on it.

What I observed

Single-person operation. No shoot day. Screen recording of my own shipped apps, plus a short-form output pipeline for each. Publishing across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

Two-week totals from this window

YouTube: 23 videos, 3,800 views, 2.9 hours of watch time, 4 new subscribers

TikTok: 6 videos, 621 views, 29 likes

Instagram: 6 videos, 908 views, 3 new followers

App-side change over the same window : portfolio download total moved from about 200 to about 363, roughly +80 percent. Most of the delta sits in one product. Others barely moved.

Three caveats I want to test against your experience

Volume alone does not seem to compound. 23 videos in a week moved 4 subscribers. Without a first-second hook, more publishing does not appear to shift the ratio. I want to know if others measured this differently.

Outbound click-through cannot be tied cleanly to downloads when each platform uses a different link tracker. I have a directional 4 percent CTR reading but cannot claim causation. I am curious how solo makers here handle attribution when the funnel crosses tools that do not talk to each other.

Cheap is not free. Public-model inference and premium TTS were avoided. Manual upload is still the last step. I want to hear from anyone who tried to remove that last manual step at low cost, and what broke.

Four questions I would like input on

For non-English-country makers who shipped English-language apps: what actually shifted your regional mix in the first eight weeks? Paid boost, SIM tricks, community seeding, something else?

Has anyone here seen a small landing page outperform social channels for downloads in the first month? Or is that specific to certain categories?

For solo makers running three or more products at once: how do you split time without going shallow on all of them?

Discovery signal, generally. About 560,000 new App Store apps in H1 2026 with 2 percent download growth. Do you see a community forming around this specific pain, or is it a personal reading??

Why I am posting this here

Part 1 in this series drew comments that pushed my thinking. I am posting Part 2 in the same forum for the same reason. If you have a working philosophy on what to do after an app ships, or you are stuck on the same wall, I would rather hear it than read one more general article on distribution.
