The report of AI products that haven't made it

published a list of AI startups and products that set out to make it big in the AI world but ultimately failed to survive.

Those that didn’t make it:

  • Relay – AI workflow automation

  • Sora – AI video-sharing platform

  • Humane AI Pin – Wearable AI assistant

  • Huxe – AI-powered audio and podcast-style summaries

  • Yupp – AI model comparison platform

  • Figgs AI – Customizable AI characters for role-play

  • Character AI – AI chatbot platform that filed for bankruptcy

  • Notion Mail – AI-powered email product

  • ChatGPT Atlas – Standalone AI web browser

Those that struggled but haven’t shut down (yet):

  • Rabbit R1 – AI-powered handheld device that received criticism for unreliable performance and limited integrations.

  • Microsoft Recall – AI feature for searching past PC activity, facing privacy and security concerns.

  • Apple’s AI-powered Siri – Delayed repeatedly due to engineering challenges and bugs.

  • ChatGPT’s “super app” redesign – Received criticism for its confusing interface before OpenAI rolled it back.

  • DALL·E – Its standalone role has diminished as image generation has become integrated into ChatGPT.

HumaneAI looked quite "innovative" at some point and really thought they would make it. But nwm.

Which of the tools mentioned above that shut down did you think had the most potential?

This is fascinating I didnt realize that some pf those on the list hadnt made it. I am surprised to see Siri on the struggling list. Hard to wrap my mind around that one.

I think chatgpt atlas had the most potential since combining AI with browsing feels genuinely useful but getting people to change their daily workflow is probably the hardest part
