The blog that gets traffic but never converts.
My blog gets readers. Real ones, from search, from social, from links I didn't ask for. They read, they nod, they leave.
A few subscribe to the newsletter, a smaller few ever sign up, and the whole thing costs me a day every week that I could spend on the product.
The case for keeping it is that it's the only thing I own. Social is rented, ads stop when I stop paying, and search results can vanish with one algorithm update. The blog is mine, it compounds slowly, and some of my best customers
found me through a post they read two years ago and never mentioned.
The case for killing it is that "compounds slowly" is another way of saying "hasn't worked yet." I've written forty posts and I couldn't tell you which ones actually brought in revenue. That's not a strategy, that's a habit I've mistaken for one.
I've watched companies build entire businesses on a blog. I've also watched founders write faithfully for three years and quietly stop, with nothing to show for it but a folder of drafts.
Do you still write? And if you stopped, was it a relief — or did something break that you didn't expect?
