Ready to launch, but what should I do first/next?

by

Hi everyone

I’m new to Product Hunt and preparing for my first launch.

My product is ready to use, and I have prepared the website, screenshots, video, and other launch materials. However, I do not yet have an established audience or any users for the app as yet.

For makers who have launched here before, what would you recommend doing before choosing a launch date?

I am seeking some advice or clarification on these items..

  • Should I first recruit a small group of users outside Product Hunt to test the product and provide feedback?

  • Is Product Hunt mainly intended to introduce a finished product to new users on launch day?

  • How much time should a new maker spend participating in the community before launching?

  • What should I prioritize if the product is ready but the audience is still small?

I’m not looking to ask anyone for votes or promote the product in this post. I’m simply trying to understand the correct process and avoid launching before I’m properly prepared.

Any advice from people who have been through their first launch would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what you're building but generally speaking, I don't think it's worth it launching without having a community that can help you test it out and iron out the kinks first .

A small cohort of users can hekp break your product, find bugs, and give raw feedback before you launch globally. More importantly, this group becomes your core "launch day army" who will support you the second you go live.

Product Hunt is meant to introduce a functional product to an eager tech community, but you cannot rely entirely on organic platform traffic to carry you to the top 5.

On how much you should spend, I don't think that's significant to the success of your launch, but you're totally free to do you.

If you have a small audience already, then prioritize value. A small audience that feels what you cooked will take you farther than a disappointed crowd on launch day. Above all, you've got this mate.

Cheers.
