Need an app that turns OFF permissions to use data for training AI

by•

Why is the "Use data for AI training" toggle ON by DEFAULT?

I have noticed this on LinkedIn and Instagram, where this feature is ON since I don't know when, and additionally is also hidden away in a chinese box-esque nested settings? I enjoy using AI when it's used in the RIGHT ways, to help humans in ease of life without taking away their freedom or privacy. I'm pretty sure these major companies never asked me for permission to introduce AI into their platform and use my data, and it's pretty disturbing how blatant they have become about it.

If people have noticed other such applications, please let me know in the comments so I can turn it off.

From the maker side, for what it is worth: the default being on is a choice, not a technical necessity, and the stores have started to push the other way. Apple held one of my app updates this autumn with two questions, does the app use third party AI and does it send personal data to it, and since their November 2025 guideline a privacy policy alone no longer counts; the user has to be told and agree inside the app. So my app now shows one sheet, once per account, at the moment something of yours is about to be sent: what goes (the song description or lyrics you typed, the photo you chose), to whom, and what for, which is the song only, no training. "Not now" is not stored anywhere, nothing is sent, and the next attempt asks again. If a new kind of data or a new provider is added, the sheet's version goes up and everyone is asked again. None of that is hard to build. Which is why the nested toggle you describe reads as a decision somebody made, not a limitation.
