I stopped scheduling meetings and started leaving voice notes
I hated meetings. Still do. But I noticed the problem was not the meeting itself. It was the scheduling, the setup, the thirty minutes of context before anything useful happened.
So I tried something. Instead of booking time, I sent a voice note. Just me, talking through the thing I needed to say, for two minutes.
The replies came back faster than meeting invites ever did. People responded in their own time, with their own thoughts, without anyone having to clear an hour. And the back and forth was often better because everyone had time to think before they spoke.
I still meet when I have to. But most of what I thought needed a meeting needed a clear voice and someone's full attention for three minutes.
Have you replaced something you hated with a version that worked better? And did it feel rude at first?
