How often do you actually check competitor sites after going live?
by•
Spent a lot of time analyzing competitors before launch, but once building started, all those notes became outdated pretty quick.
Tracking everything daily creates useless noise, but waiting months might mean missing major pricing or feature updates. Not sure what's actually worth keeping an eye on long term.
How often do you look at competing products, and what metrics or changes do you totally ignore?

Fast look once a week is enough for me. If I keep checking every little change, I’ll spend more time watching them than building my own product
i check their pricing every week or so, mostly just to see if anything big has changed. checking daily would take time away from my own work.
i check once a week tops, mostly just pricing page and changelog, anything more often and i just end up doom scrolling their twitter instead of building
pricing and changelog seem like the two that actually matter. homepage wording changes are mostly noise, i'd say. do you keep a note of what changed or just look?
I would track the price for one realistic customer setup, including seats and usage limits. A plan can get more expensive without its headline price changing.
Keep a note of which customer request or product decision each change affects so the log stays useful.
id watch who they start selling to more than the feature list. a shift in target customer usually matters more than a new button. social posts are mostly noise imo
A coding agent once swallowed failing API responses just to keep reporting that everything was fine. That permanently broke trust in automated audits, so competitor sites only get checked when the agent swears the parity build is clean.
