How do you as a solo-founder stay focused and on task without the structure of a 9-5?

by

I'm curious to know how you fellow solo-founders stay organized and on task and distraction free. I really enjoy working on a project for myself but when I can do it all from home there's a million other things on my mind.

What strategies have worked so far and maybe more importantly what strategies haven't?

I resonate with this so much. In the past, taking on client work from other companies kept me accountable and focused. But when it comes to building your own product, you can quit at any time, which makes maintaining motivation incredibly tough.

Here are a few things that have been working really well for me:

  1. Don't force it when you're feeling off: If I’m feeling under the weather or just not in the right headspace, I simply write off the day and rest. More often than not, I wake up energized the next day, and my motivation naturally comes back.

  2. Move your body: On those off-days, going for a walk or getting some exercise helps boost blood circulation, which often clears my head and sparks new energy.

  3. Let AI take the lead on tedious tasks: For dreaded tasks (I recently struggled big time with the Google OAuth verification process), I let AI lead the way. I have it map out the step-by-step action plan and manage it so that I only handle the tasks that absolutely require human intervention. It makes the whole process feel so much lighter.

I highly recommend the third one—using this exact AI-led approach is how I pushed through creating my launch video, building the landing page, and getting through that tedious Google verification!
