Has AI-only customer support ever made you switch products?

by

AI can answer common questions instantly—but when something genuinely goes wrong, talking to a bot can become more frustrating than the problem itself. I’m curious: how often has poor customer support—or the inability to reach a real person—made you switch to another product?

And what does “good human support” actually mean to you?

For me, it’s not necessarily 24/7 access or an immediate solution. It means:

  • understanding the context without making me repeat everything;

  • taking ownership of the issue;

  • giving an honest timeframe;

  • escalating the case when automation cannot help;

  • following up until the problem is actually resolved.

AI agents can make support faster, but should they replace people completely—or simply handle routine questions and bring in a human when judgment and responsibility are needed?

Have you ever left a product because its support felt like an endless conversation with a bot? What would have made you stay?
