Guerrilla Marketing

I'm new to guerrilla marketing, trying to learn from people who've actually done it

I've been reading about guerrilla marketing for the past few weeks, stunts, ambient marketing, ambush tactics, all of it. On paper it sounds amazing: low budget, high creativity, huge impact if it lands.

But I'm realizing there's a big gap between reading about it and actually pulling it off.

Some things I'm stuck on as a beginner:

  • How do you know if an idea is "guerrilla-clever" or just going to look cringe/desperate?

  • How much planning goes into something that's supposed to feel spontaneous?

  • Is it better to try this online (comment sections, communities, memes) before attempting anything physical/in-person?

  • How do you avoid legal/permit trouble if you're testing something in public?

I don't have a big budget or a big audience yet, so I can't really afford to get this wrong or embarrass myself.

So I wanted to ask the people here who've actually done this before:

What's one guerrilla marketing move you tried early on, even a small one, that actually worked? And what would you tell a total beginner before they try their first one?

Would genuinely love to hear real examples, even small ones. Trying to learn by doing, not just by reading.
