Are we building tools for creators, or tools for creation itself?

I originally started looking for alternatives because I was tired of paying subscriptions that limit experimentation through credits, tokens, and usage caps.

Then I discovered the local AI world.

And I realized there was another side of the problem: having ownership and power, but sometimes needing to understand the entire machine before actually creating.

There is a difference between loving architecture and loving the experience of living in a beautiful space.

One person enjoys designing every detail.

The other simply wants to live, create memories, and feel at home in a place that works.

I think creative software has a similar tension.

Some people genuinely enjoy mastering tools, understanding every possibility, and building complex workflows.

Others have an idea in their head and simply want to bring it to life.

Both approaches have value.

But I wonder if we've spent so much time making creators more powerful that we've forgotten something important:

the best tools eventually disappear behind the creation itself.

So why should generative AI be different?

Why should the next generation of creative tools require us to learn their complexity before we can express the simplicity of an idea?
