Am I a ghost??

So I know that ProductHunt has probably had to fight it's faire share of fraud and abuse on their platform but I have been using it on and off for moths and it appears that despite my waves of inconsistent activity, I still have yet to really gain any kitty points or be able to really help upvote someone. (I can do it but when I look from another computer the score is unchanged). I don't really care that much, but I'm just curious. Does this happen to everyone when they start using the platform? Is it normal? When will my voice actually begin to be heard in this community?

Not a ghost, I can see you fine too. What I noticed on my own account is that the forums are where the response actually comes from. Launch pages are a crowd shouting at once, a thread is a conversation, and a specific answer to someone's specific question gets replies and upvotes within the hour. Your voice gets heard the moment you say something only you could say, your own numbers, your own mistake, your own setup. Generic encouragement, mine included, goes nowhere. On the points, I honestly never looked at mine, and I'd suggest not looking at yours either. The people who replied to me never checked my score first.

Thanks! I agree that points aren't really that important but I was more just curious why my upvotes weren't having any effect and if this was something that happens to a lot of users when they started out or if I just did something that made PH think I was a bot or fraudulent in some way.

I can't tell you how they weigh it, I never found the rules written down. What I do know is that a vote from a young account counting for less is how most platforms with points work, and I would be surprised if PH were different. Months of light activity probably still reads as young to the system. Nothing here looks like a bot flag to me: your thread is visible, people answered, your reply shows up. A flagged account usually gets hidden, not shown with a lighter vote. My practical take: comment on a handful of threads where you have something specific to say, then check in a month whether the vote shows from the other computer.

Sorry to hear that. I can tell you for certain that I can hear your voice perfectly fine (: Hopefully you get your recognition soon!
