Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I'm a solo developer, and Friends Camera started as a hobby project. I built it for my own wedding: I wanted every guest's photos in one place, without asking 100 people to install an app or send files afterwards. I tried it at a couple of other events first, and it worked well.
How it works: you print a QR code, guests scan it with their phone camera and take photos in the browser, and everything lands in one private album that only the host can see. Each guest gets a limited roll of shots, so people actually take photos instead of scrolling.
A few things I cared about:
• No app and no account for guests
• Location data is removed from photos on the guest's phone before they upload
• Photos are stored in the EU, with no ads and no tracking cookies
• The host can download everything and delete anything. Deleted means permanently deleted.
• 13 languages, and printable table cards for different event types
I'm not going to pretend this is a new idea. There are a lot of apps in this space. I'm doing this mostly to learn how to build, ship and market a real product, and I'd love your honest feedback.
The free trial lasts 30 days for up to 15 guests, and after that it's a one-time payment per event, with no subscription.
What would make you use this at your next event? And what's missing?
Thank you for looking! 🙏
