Fridgey - AI chef that cooks with what's already in your fridge

Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I built Fridgey after realizing I was throwing out food every week — not because I didn't have ingredients, but because I had no idea what to make with them. Most recipe apps start with a dish in mind and tell you what to buy. Fridgey flips that: you start with what you already have. The hardest part was making the AI actually useful — early versions just gave generic recipes ignoring half the fridge. I ended up engineering a prompt that generates 9 recipes simultaneously across meal types and nutrition goals, and forces the model to prioritize the ingredients you actually have. The camera scan (point at your fridge, get a product list) was a fun challenge too — GPT-4o Vision handles it surprisingly well.
