Should a potluck sign-up sheet ask for servings separately?

I’m Faisal, the maker of Free Potluck Signup. I’m looking for feedback on one design choice.

The printable sheet has three columns: Dish / quantity, Brought by, and Notes. A host can enter “Baked pasta — serves 8,” add the cook’s name, and leave a note like “Needs 15 minutes in the oven.”

I kept quantity in the dish field because “12 rolls,” “8 servings of pasta,” and “1 bag of ice” are all useful contributions. The tradeoff is that someone can just write “pasta,” and the host still has to ask how much they’re bringing.

If you’ve organized an office lunch or Friendsgiving, would a separate “How much are you bringing?” field have helped at your last event? I’d love to hear an example of what you actually needed to know.
