Why I decided to build a local-first workspace instead of another cloud app

While building FlowDesk, I kept asking myself one question:

Why does almost every productivity tool assume your data should live in the cloud?

That question led me to build FlowDesk as a local-first workspace.

The goal isn't to replace cloud collaboration completely, but to give users a choice. Your projects can stay on your own device by default, work offline, and still support collaboration when you need it.

I'm curious:
