Your photos stay on your machine, AI generative infill, AI magic selection and smart stacking are all processed offline on your Apple Silicon Mac. The UI is modern and designed to be intuitive. It's pay once to use forever
I’ve been building Feather, a new photo editor, for the last 4 months. It’s still a bit rough around the edges, but I'm putting it out there today to shape future updates based on actual user feedback.
A quick recap of what's currently working well: > HSL color mixer: Works directly inside masks (limited on lightroom) > Magic selector (Pro): Includes a shift+drag cursor for specific selections > Magic eraser (Pro): Quick object removal > Smart stacking (Beta): Auto Averaging
Tech specs: Mac only. Tested on various Apple Silicon devices (M1/M2). It runs fine on 8GB, but 16GB of RAM is recommended. You can login and download it here: https://www.feather-editor.it/
What is your biggest frustration with your current photo editing software?
@mike_kabongo It currently works on my windows machine but it's too slow to recommend, i mean... You wouldn't want it in the conditions it's in. And it's way easier to make this go fast on Apple Silicon, so if i see a big interest in the mac version i will do the optimizations necessary on windows, i'd say at least a month

Pay-once pricing is a real differentiator right now when everything else is $12/month forever. What's the current price point, and does that change post-launch? Trying to decide if jumping in during the rough edges phase is worth it versus waiting for a more polished build.
@sounak_bhattacharya currently 20$ + tax with the product hunt launch discount. i noticed it's way too low. But i made a commitment so it is what it is for this week... It goes to 30$ next week and as features increase in quantity and quality, and bugs decrease the price will increase.
This is real time on Apple M1 pro. The infill is on a small picture with small patches, so with bigger pictures it will be slower. But it's just to give you a reference point... It's not sped up

Love the local AI angle privacy-first is underrated in apps. Does it work fully offline or does it need a connection for some features? Building something similar (local storage, no account) and it's always a selling point with users.
@imad_elkhafi when doing these things you have to balance security, gathering data about how many download, reducing clicks to do an action, making it simple, reducing probability of mistakes… it’s really hard, I’ll keep improving it.
This one has a couple of core mistakes… My next one won’t, and if this goes well I’ll patch this also

@luca_miglioli That balance is real as a solo dev you feel every one of those tradeoffs personally. Good mindset to ship, learn, and patch. Looking forward to seeing v2.
@jean_louis_grau You can download the free version just fine with a google account. If you want to buy it it's 30 bucks+tax right now. (one time payment)
Thanks for the feedback, i will add the pricing in the first page

@imad_elkhafi The AI features are paid, so yes, i require an account. But from the first download and login you can continue just fine offline.
@luca_miglioli Fair approach one-time login is a reasonable tradeoff for local-first after that. Appreciate the transparency!
