What actually makes you stick with an expense app? (building one solo, want to learn from you)
Hi PH š
I'm Dogukan, building ExpenseSpy ā a receipt scanner for individuals (freelancers, travelers, small biz owners). Launching June 17, solo, no funding.
Honest backstory: I'm not someone with a shoebox of receipts myself. But I kept hearing the same complaint everywhere ā receipts piling up, multiple currencies, hours lost typing into spreadsheets. Most existing tools are built for finance teams of 50, which feels like overkill for one person.
So I built something simpler: snap a receipt ā AI reads merchant/date/amount/currency ā export to Excel, CSV, or PDF. Multi-currency from day one, grouped by trip or project.
Before launch, I'd genuinely love to hear from this community:
ā If you've used expense apps before ā what made you stop?
ā If you haven't ā what would actually convince you to start?
ā For travelers / freelancers here: what's the one thing every expense tool gets wrong?
Not looking for upvotes, just real input. Whatever you share helps me ship something people actually want to keep open.
Thanks š
