I'm the founder behind ExamineIP — a free network security and privacy tools site I've been building since February.

I built the Password Tools suite because I kept seeing the same problem: people use breach checkers without realizing their password gets sent to a server. That's... not great.

So I built one that doesn't do that.

The breach checker uses k-anonymity — only the first 5 characters of a SHA-1 hash are sent to the HaveIBeenPwned API. Your actual password never leaves your browser. Ever.
