EmberBar - Know your Claude AI burn rate before it matters

by
EmberBar is a native macOS menu bar app that tracks your Claude AI usage in real time. No more keeping a browser tab open on the usage page. A live gauge shows your burn rate and estimated time until the limit. Peak hour detection warns you when Claude counts usage 2x so you can plan around it. Get notified at 75% and 90% usage or when your burn rate spikes. Track session and weekly windows in one glance. Free, open source, privacy-first.

Hey everyone! I built EmberBar because I kept a browser tab permanently open on Claude's usage page, checking it constantly while working in Claude Code. It worked, but switching context just to see a number felt wrong. I'm not a developer by background - I come from 17+ years in recruiting and talent operations. AI-assisted development (specifically Claude Code) opened up a world where I could finally build the things I'd always wanted to. EmberBar was my first proper tool built for myself, put together across a few days. It sits in your macOS menu bar and gives you a live usage gauge, burn rate predictions, peak hour warnings, and smart notifications. No accounts, no telemetry, no servers - your data stays entirely on your Mac. It's free and open source. I'd love to hear what you think, and I'm very open to feature requests. If you run into any issues, the GitHub repo is the best place to raise them. Thanks for checking it out!
