Elf Names Wiki - AI elf name generator with meanings, lore & portraits
by•
Most name generators spit out random syllables. Elf Names Wiki generates elven names with actual meanings and pronunciations, organized across 11 subraces (Wood Elf, Dark Elf, High Elf, Drow...). Browse curated lists by gender or category, dig into elven lore from D&D, LOTR, and Elder Scrolls, and create AI portraits for your characters — all free.

Finally a name generator that doesn't just mash syllables together — the meanings and pronunciation guides are a really nice touch for building D&D characters.
@kaz_m73718 Thanks! Meanings and pronunciation were exactly the parts I didn't want to skip — a name generator that just outputs strings felt half-done. Still early days for the product, so if anything feels off or missing when you use it for your characters, I'd genuinely love to hear it.
The meanings behind each name are a really nice touch, makes choosing one feel less random. Generating portraits for characters is a fun bonus too.
@sezerp2wv Thanks! That was exactly the bet — a name feels different when you know what it means. Glad you enjoyed the portraits!
Would love to see a bookmark or save feature so I can build a shortlist of names I'm considering for my D&D character. Right now I'm just jotting them down in a notes app, and it's easy to lose track of the ones I actually liked versus the dozens I scrolled past.
@muhammedjbxo That's fair — right now the shortlist only really works once you're signed in, and if you were browsing without an account, it's basically invisible. That's a gap on my end. I'm changing it so the heart icon prompts a (free) sign-in and your list is saved from there. Thanks for pushing on this!
