Elephant Bamboo - Free book: real engineering fundamentals for the AI era

by
The Confident Learner is a free 23-chapter book on the tech and domain fundamentals every engineering student needs — how machines, networks, and data actually work, plus how real domains like fintech and healthcare function. Written for the AI era: AI can write code, but only you can judge if it's right. Sign in with Google, no payment, ever.

Hi Product Hunt — I am based out of India and I built this because of a conversation I kept having with engineering students who all asked some version of the same question: what should I actually learn right now, when the field keeps changing under them? The answer isn't a framework or a tool. It's the fundamentals underneath — how the machine, the network, and real-world domains like fintech and healthcare actually work — because that's the layer that lets you judge whether an AI tool's output is any good. It's 23 chapters, free, no paywall — a Google sign-in after the first couple of chapters is the only gate, and it's there just so I know who's reading. Would love your feedback, especially on where it gets it wrong.

Love that this is free and covers real fundamentals beyond just code. One suggestion: add a short quiz or self-check at the end of each chapter so readers can actually test whether they absorbed the concepts, especially the networking and data sections where it's easy to passively skim and think you get it.
