Hey Product Hunt! πŸ‘‹ I'm Darlo, founder of EasyPairing. THE PROBLEM: Whether it's roommates, project teams, study groups, or mentors - forming compatible groups at scale is painful. Random assignment causes conflicts. Manual matching doesn't scale. Self-selection creates cliques. THE SOLUTION: EasyPairing's AI analyzes compatibility factors (whatever matters to you) and generates optimal pairings in minutes. USE CASES WE'VE SEEN: βœ… University roommate matching (original use case) βœ… Professors forming balanced project teams βœ… K-12 schools pairing students for programs βœ… Leadership programs matching mentors βœ… Non-profits pairing event attendees βœ… Organizations forming study/work groups One housing director: "This saved me 60 hours last summer." One professor: "Best project teams I've ever had." WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT: We're not just for roommates or just for teams - we're for ANY group formation challenge. You define what matters (skills, schedules, preferences, personalities), we optimize for it. Happy to answer questions about the algorithm, use cases, or your specific grouping challenges! Check out our self guided demo in your personalized sandbox on the app to learn more. What's your worst group formation disaster? πŸ‘€

@darlo_ogzΒ Can I customize the questions and matching rules?

Darlington Oguzie

@labai_limitedΒ Yes, you can either use the inbuilt questions or create your own customized questions. Matching rules are also customizable to suit your specific scenarios.

@darlo_ogzΒ Currently, I mentor a group of tweens. If we were ever to take a trip out of town for an exercise, would Easypairing be able to completely allocate rooms to my girls, notify their parents and get them signed up if I were to provide their names?

Kenneth Oguzie

@darlo_ogzΒ The classic one is when one person instantly becomes the β€œidea guy” and then disappeared forever once it gets to execution. I have witnessed this numerous times in my career. Looking forward to seeing how this helps mitigate this issue.

This seems to be very helpful in negating future conflicts, are the use cases customizable? How do you send participants questionnaires?

Darlington Oguzie

@alan_lanaΒ Yes, one of the benefits of using EasyPairing is to negate future conflicts when people are working or living together. The use cases are customizable to suit your needs and the application automatically sends the questionnaires to the participants as soon as the project is started. Participants can answer and submit their responses until the end time set by the project owner.

What makes Easy Pairing different from other matching apps?

Darlington Oguzie

@greenfieldΒ Unlike other matching apps, EasyPairing allows users to create their own custom questions or scenarios and its uses AI to determine the most optimal grouping unlike other products which assigned pre-defined weights to questions. Using AI, EasyPairing is able to provide better matches.

Adeola Ibrahim

How is this better than Google Forms + Excel?

Darlington Oguzie

@adeola_ibrahimΒ Google Forms collects data. You still do the matching manually.

EasyPairing collects data AND does the intelligent matching for you.

It's the difference between having a list of ingredients and having a chef who knows which combinations work.

40 hours β†’ 10 seconds. Better matches. Fewer conflicts. EasyPairing does the matching at scale.

That's the difference.

@How do you handle privacy and data?

Darlington Oguzie

@labai_limitedΒ All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We respect the privacy of our users and your data is very secure with us.

Darlington Oguzie

@labai_limitedΒ Your data is secured and encrypted at rest. Every data transfer is secured and we maintain a high level of strict access across our systems.

I have seen how poorly matched working pairs in clinical and administrative settings can slow decision-making and create unnecessary friction, even among highly competent people. Pairing based on availability rather than compatibility is inefficient. A system that defines relevant variables and optimizes matching around them is a genuinely smart solution. Congratulations on the launch.

Darlington Oguzie

@kelechi_ogzΒ Thank you. Yes, it does make a lot of difference when you are trying to group people based on their preferences at scale.

Mary Ojehanon

Very interesting solution. Out of curiosity, how do you approach data security and privacy for user inputs, especially when sensitive criteria are involved? Congrats on the launch.

Darlington Oguzie

@mary_ojehanonΒ Great question!

Data security is critical, especially in education.

Our approach:

  • All data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest

  • Hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure (Railway/AWS)

  • Participants only share what's needed for matching (no SSN, financial info)

  • Surveys are customizable - admins control what's asked

  • Data is organization-specific (no cross-institution sharing)

Most sensitive data (names, emails) is only visible to the admin running the matching - the algorithm just sees compatibility factors.

Happy to discuss our security practices in more detail. DM if you'd like specifics!

Thanks for the question πŸ™

@darlo_ogz Is the tool available for users in EMEA region ?

Darlington Oguzie

@skysis_consultingΒ Yes, its available acrosss all regions. Some of our customers are actually from the UK.

Congratulations on the launch! This is a solid take on a problem that keeps popping up in schools, programs, and orgs once the group size grows. I like that the product isn’t locked into one use case and instead lets organizers define what β€œgood matching” means for them. This can save teams a lot of back-and-forth and manual effort.

Darlington Oguzie

@maryam_khalid3Β Thank you!

You nailed exactly what we're going for - "good matching" means different things for different contexts.

For roommates it's sleep schedules + study habits.

For project teams it's skills + availability.

For mentors it's goals + communication styles.

The flexibility has been the biggest surprise - we built it for roommates, now it's being used for everything from engineering teams to K-12 Valentine's pairings!

Appreciate the support!
