Hi Product Hunt! Apple's iPhone Duo inspired me to explore what a folding iPhone could feel like before I could hold one.

How would apps move between the inner and cover displays? What could you do with the phone halfway open? I wanted something I could interact with and build for.

That's the idea behind Duo: a desktop simulator where you can fold the device, rotate it, open apps, and experiment with your own ideas. There's also a browser preview you can try right away.

Duo is built with Tauri, with cross-platform desktop support as the goal. Its developer platform brings together a fold-aware SDK, a React UI kit, and an App Store for installing apps without rebuilding the simulator.

This is my independent project, not an Apple product or an iOS emulator. The apps you build run inside Duo.

It's the first release, and I'm still refining the experience, so expect some rough edges. I'd love to hear what feels right, what breaks, and what you'd build for a folding screen.

I wanted to try Apple's iPhone Duo before I could get my hands on one, so I built my own simulator. I used Astra for almost all of the development: the 3D phone, folding behavior, built-in apps, desktop app, SDK, UI kit, and App Store. I'd try things, find something that felt wrong or broke and work through it with Astra. The project grew along the way. I wanted other people to be able to build apps for it too, so we added a way to create and install apps that react to the fold. It's still an early release with rough edges, but you can fold the phone, use the apps, and start building your own.
