DockDuck 1.1.3 is out 🎉

This release is about doing more with fewer clicks, and making the app yours. A good part of it came straight from your reports and requests, so thank you for that.

Here is what's new.

Connect to Server, redesigned

Adding or opening a server used to take a few different paths. Now it is one clean sheet. Pick the protocol as a tile (SMB, SFTP, FTP or WebDAV), paste a whole address and DockDuck fills in the host, port, path and username for you, and watch the connecting, error and trust states play out right there in the sheet. You can also save a server without connecting to it, so your list is ready before you need it.

SFTP also opens in your home folder now on servers that keep you there, instead of dropping you at the root.

Make it yours: customize the toolbar and quick actions

A new Customizations tab in Settings puts you in charge of two surfaces. Choose which actions ride on the floating quick action bar that appears over a selection, and which sit in the window toolbar, then drag them into the order you want. Keep it minimal or load it up. Everything you do not pin stays one click away in the overflow menu.

Photos and videos, in full detail

The preview panel reads real metadata now. Photos show the camera, lens, ISO, aperture and capture date. Videos show resolution, codec, frame rate and duration, and they play right inside the preview and the gallery, with no separate app.

Group by Kind

Turn any folder into labeled groups: Folders, Images, Documents and so on, each with its own header and count, the way Finder does it. It works alongside your sort, so a big download folder finally reads at a glance.

A split view that thinks for itself

The dual pane view got smarter. Each side decides on its own whether it is wide enough to show its preview, so a narrow pane spends its pixels on files instead. You can split top and bottom now, not just side by side, and the knob in the middle of the divider rotates the split when you click it and resizes when you drag it.

Smaller things you will notice

• Cloud status badges you can act on. Files in iCloud and other clouds show whether they are downloaded, and you can pull one down straight from its badge.

• Rename in place, everywhere. Inline rename works in the column and gallery views too now, not just grid and list.

• A quieter, glassier chrome. The toolbar, tabs and path bar pick up the Liquid Glass material, so they sit under your content instead of competing with it.

• Finder muscle memory. Return renames, Space opens Quick Look, and the rest of the view shortcuts match Finder now, so your hands already know them.

• Remove a favorite on hover. A small button appears when you hover a favorite in the sidebar, the same way servers already worked.

Fixed

• Locked files offer to unlock. Moving or trashing a locked file asks and unlocks it for you now, instead of failing silently.

• Thumbnails refresh the moment you edit. Change a file and its thumbnail updates right away, with no stale image left behind.

• Escape cancels a rename cleanly, from every view.

• App Management trashing works on the folders macOS guards.
