Has anyone ever used Gmail/Outlook alternatives before? What do you think about it?

by

There are so, so, many email apps out there:

Superhuman, Hey, Slashy, Cowork gmail plugin, Spark Mail, Proton mail, Spacemail, Titan, Shortwave, Alfred, Canary, Spike, Tuta, Skiff, Icloud, Zoho, Yahoo (if it counts even).

But has any one of us tried it before? Why/Why not?

i like experimenting with new inbox tools, but I often treat them as secondary layers on top of Gmail instead of full replacements. That feels safer.

Good method which maximizes discovery and minimizes cost for you.

so does that mean the ones that are non plug-in, you don’t use?

Also. Dirac IS plug-in to Gmail and you’re welcome to go start the trial there :)

I try alternatives, then Gmail drags me back with muscle memory. The switching cost is weirdly emotional for something this boring.

You're right. people would be suprised at sometimes how the most borign things have the higherst switching cost, because they are so ingrained in your routines.

Side note: The base "dirac" without ai is pretty much similar to gmail. What do yoou think about it? Would there still be a big switching cost?

Just trying to do some learning here :)

I just fine with Gmail 😅

 good for you :)

have never used coz tbh never felt the need of one

Interesting, this is useful market research. How many emails do you receive on avg?

Using Thunderbird for years, also Roundcube. Running my own email servers.

damn!! You’re really taking control of this into your own hands!

I respect that
