Weird, keep getting an "Invalid email" while trying to signup error. But this seems super cool.
Hm.. will shoot you a note.
Try logging in with the email you tried to sign up with. We're looking into this issue. Shoot me a note at if that doesn't work!
Do you have any metric showing the accuracy of your counting sensor? I am just wondering how the count works if people enter in groups together (without gaps).
- We can achieve 100% accuracy when people enter cleanly but accuracy is dependent on how well we handle edge cases. Too many in a row and our numbers can be wrong off. - It hasn't been brought up yet but we're essentially identifying patterns that occur in the voltage readout of two parallel sensors (see image above). Two different people, even if passing through without a gap, show enough of a difference in their pattern to tell them apart. It simply takes time to root out all of these granular edge cases. - Right now we handle a lot of edge cases well. But there's always more we can do to improve. Sorry that's not a straight-forward percentage. But what's really interesting about your question is that we don't actually have a baseline to compare our results to. In other words, we're the only thing counting. So, right now the only way to create a control is to have a human count by hand and then compare the resulting data. Which is a surprisingly taxing task. We could use video surveillance but that's another matter entirely.
if only it translated crowds to wait times. ;)
Someday :)
Adding this to Best of 2015 collection!

Gosh I had this idea a year ago when I was looking for a place to live. I wondered if there was an app that could tell you what "districts" were more or less noisy each day of the week.
When you say noisy do you mean loud or busy? They probably relate but I'm curious.
more loud. Like "you won't be able to sleep here"
Cool concept. The business owners that see potential will work with you. I think the locations will have to limited by geography and/or popularity.
Glad to see you finally up here . And well-deserving of the upvotes. Great job man!
You need to meet ... Thanks!
This would be incredible in a hospital. It also would be able to give more accurate appointment times. How long till anyone can install one?
Honestly, if you know a hospital... let's talk. andrew AT density.io
(whoops, meant to reply to the footer year comment) I've found this helpful, a snippet of code for dynamic timestamps so you never have to remember :)
"Friends Don't Let Friends Look Dead On The Internet", haha. This is clever.
uhm great way to know when to go in a bar to distribute flyers for an event :)
That's interesting. Someone once suggested we sell the data to Red Bull so they can hand out free drinks at the busiest bars :).
