The one tool I wish I had during our launch
Three weeks ago I posted a list of things I learned on launch day. I left one off, because I only noticed it after the dust settled.
Almost every good thing that happened to Construct came through someone we already knew.
Not cold DMs. Those mostly went nowhere. It was a friend of a friend of a friend, and the ask worked because the person in the middle could say "yeah, I know them, they're legit."
The painful part was finding that middle person and scrolling through following lists at 2am trying to work out who knows who, and guessing who'd actually reply π
Even today, our hunter @zaczuo dropped a comment saying "this is literally how Nischal reached out to me."
So we built the thing we wish we'd had before August 23.
It's called @Nepotism Network (yes, we know π). Tell it who you want to reach on X and it finds the warmest chain of people between you and them. It explains why each link is warm and drafts the ask for your first hop. It never sends anything on your behalf, you still do the talking.
We've made it free to try, so if there's someone you've been meaning to reach, go poke at it and tell us where it's wrong. The hard questions were the best part of the last launch.
Or drop your X handle and the handle of one person you'd love an intro to, and I'll reply with how many hops away you are. So far nobody's been more than 4.
PS. it's live on Product Hunt today if you want to follow along, we would appreciate your love and support.
