Should AI help you write your social comments?

Hey all 👋

A small confession that turned into a product: I'd open a colleague's launch, a

friend's news, an interesting thread - fully meaning to reply - and then just…

stall. Either I didn't have time to write something that wasn't generic, or I'd

stare at the box and scroll past. Do that enough and you quietly disappear from

the conversations you actually care about.

So I built CommentGPT. It reads the post you're looking at and drafts a

thoughtful, context-aware comment in seconds - right inside LinkedIn, X, Facebook,

and Instagram. You pick a style and tone, then YOU review, edit, and post. Nothing

is ever automatic. That last part is the whole point for me: it's an assistant for

saying something genuine faster, not a bot that engages for you.

But here's the thing I keep wrestling with, and I'd genuinely love this community's

take:

Where's the line between an AI helping you say something real, and it making your

engagement feel hollow?

My answer so far is "keep the human in the loop, always" - it drafts, but you

decide what (if anything) gets posted. Still, I'm curious how others here think

about it:

• Would you use an AI to help you comment? Why or why not?

• Does "you always edit and post it yourself" change how you feel about it?

• What would make an assistant like this feel like YOU, not a template?
