CodeGuard AI - Self-hosted AI code review for GitHub PRs

by•
CodeGuard AI is a self-hosted AI code reviewer for GitHub Pull Requests, built with Java 17 and Spring Boot. Connect GitHub, choose OpenAI, Gemini, or Ollama, and analyze PRs for bugs, security issues, performance problems, and best-practice violations. Review results can be posted back to GitHub, while review history and trends help track results over time. The complete source code can be customized and self-hosted.

I built CodeGuard AI because I wanted more control over the AI code-review workflow instead of relying entirely on a hosted review service. The project connects GitHub Pull Requests with configurable AI providers like OpenAI, Gemini, and Ollama. It can analyze a PR for bugs, security issues, performance problems, and best-practice violations, then post the review back to GitHub. One of the things I focused on was making the review workflow customizable — from the AI provider and review instructions to the dashboard, GitHub integration, and review history. The public repository is a showcase; the complete Spring Boot source code is available separately for developers who want to run and customize the system themselves. I'd especially love feedback from developers working with GitHub PRs and AI-assisted code review.
