Remember Collabwriting? We're back as Cluing 🙌🏼 Here's why we killed a #1 Product of the Day name
Hey Product Hunt(ers) 👋🏼
We launched Collabwriting for Teams here in 2024, hit #1 Product of the Day, and then went quiet. We went heads-down to build, and told ourselves we'd come back when we had something worth saying.
Two years later, here we are.
Back then, Collabwriting helped you collect paragraphs from webpages. Today, Cluing captures almost anything - articles, PDFs, YouTube videos, TikToks, emails, social posts, even your own real-life thoughts. We went from single Topics to a full system: Clusters, a Knowledge Graph, AI Chat with any frontier model, Canvas, and MCP integration.
At some point the name stopped making sense. People kept asking "why Collabwriting if it's not really a writing tool?" - and honestly, they were right. Half the people who'd have loved it never tried it because the name didn't speak to them.
So we became Cluing. Because what we actually do is help you find the clues in a sea of information, and turn them into finished work.
We're back. And this time, we're not going quiet. 😄 Anyway, if you knew us as Collabwriting, it's good to see you again. If you're new, hi 👋🏼

What has been the biggest surprise since launching as Cluing? Has the new name changed the way people discover or understand the product?

@yahya_rogers the biggest surprise has been how much faster people get it now 😄 With Collabwriting, we spent the first 30 seconds of every conversation undoing what the name had already told them. With Cluing, that friction is mostly gone. People arrive without the wrong assumption baked in. As for discovery- it's still early, but we're already seeing people find us who would never have clicked on "Collabwriting." The name was quietly filtering out exactly the users we wanted

Congrats on the relaunch!
I think renaming was the right move. If people were confused by the old name, it was probably limiting the product before they even tried it. "Cluing" feels much closer to what you're building now.
