48 hours after launching Clipzula: what real users broke, and what I fixed the same day

by•

Hey PH 👋

I launched Clipzula here on Saturday, an AI tool that turns streams and long videos into vertical clips. I'm a solo maker, so I want to share what the first 48 hours actually looked like, numbers included.

The numbers

25 signups, 17 people uploaded or pasted a video, 194 clips made. Not viral, but these are real people using it, and that taught me more than any test.

What broke, and what I changed

  1. People kept pasting streams longer than 60 minutes on the Free plan, and Clipzula just said no. 8 times in one night. That's a terrible first experience. Now it clips the first hour instead, so you always see what it can do.

  2. Clips from one video rendered one by one, even when the servers were idle. Now they render in parallel: 12 clips went from ~15 minutes to 4.

  3. On launch day YouTube blocked our downloads for a few hours. Fixed, with automatic retries if it happens again.

What I learned

Watching what people actually do beats guessing. Nobody read the "60 min limit" text. They just pasted their stream.

My question for you

If you've launched something: what was the first thing real users did that you never expected? And if you make content: what would make you trust an AI to pick your best moments?
