Building a tiny app that locks your keyboard so you can wipe it clean
Every time I tried to wipe crumbs and dust off my MacBook, the same thing happened: random shortcuts firing, ghost trackpad clicks, and somehow a file renamed to "jjjjjjjjj". You can't actually clean a laptop while it's listening to every press.
So I'm building CleanMyMacKeyboard — a tiny macOS app that locks your keyboard AND trackpad on a timer and drops a full-screen overlay so you can scrub in peace.
Pick a duration: 30s / 1m / 2m / 5m
Every keypress, click, and gesture is paused
Lock releases on its own when the timer ends
In a hurry? ⇧⌥⌘L unlocks early
Signed + notarized by Apple, no telemetry
Launching here on Product Hunt soon. To things I'd love input on before then:
What duration would you actually use — quick 30s wipe, or a full 5m deep clean?
Is an auto-timer enough, or would you want a "stay locked until I unlock" mode?
How do you clean your Mac today — power it off, or just risk it?
