Chikoro AI - made for African classrooms

I built Chikoro AI from my own struggles as a Zimbabwean student.During the COVID-19 lockdowns, when schools closed and my parents couldn’t afford private tutors, I had to teach myself at home using only textbooks, YouTube, Reddit and whatever free online resources I could find. It was tough, lonely and full of gaps — especially when I got stuck on a topic with no one to ask.Even before that, traditional “chikoro” often felt intimidating. I would stay silent in class instead of asking questions because I didn’t want to look slow or hold others back.Those experiences showed me a clear problem: many Zimbabwean students lack access to patient, 24/7 personalised help that feels safe and culturally relevant.So I created Chikoro AI — a homegrown AI tutor and teacher assistant built specifically for ZIMSEC and Cambridge curricula. It speaks Shona + English (and more), never judges you and lets students learn privately and fearlessly. Students can ask anything, retry as many times as needed and get clear explanations without pressure.It also helps teachers by cutting lesson planning, grading and admin time in half, so they can focus on actually teaching instead of paperwork.This is African tech solving real African problems: turning self-learning struggles into confident, supported learning for every student and reducing burnout for teachers.From silent student during COVID lockdowns to solo founder — Chikoro AI is my way of making sure no Zimbabwean learner has to struggle alone again.
