Chartbuddy - Business charts that stay editable on every surface

by•
Chartbuddy makes the charts finance and strategy teams need: waterfalls, mekkos, stacked bars and combo charts, 14 types in all, with smart annotations, smart axes, number formats and brand styling. Build a chart in the HTML your AI generates, in the Hub desktop editor, or natively inside Google Slides. It travels like an image and opens fully editable in the next tool. Embed is free. Hub is free for the first 1,000 users in 2026. Google Slides gives you 10 free sessions, no card.

Hi Product Hunt,

You ask for a waterfall chart. It comes back as a picture. Someone wants the axis at zero. You cannot click the chart. You prompt again. Next week the number moves. Same picture.

Tim and I built Chartbuddy so you can edit the chart instead of prompting again, and iterate on the same chart across every surface.

A Chartbuddy chart travels like an image and stays editable. Ask Claude or ChatGPT for an HTML deck and every chart inside it is live. Prompt from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and it opens in a desktop editor for Mac and Windows. Push it to Google Slides, PowerPoint, Slack or Notion. Pull it back when the numbers change. Or edit natively in Google Slides. One chart. Alive and editable everywhere.

Fourteen types, including waterfall, marimekko and bar mekko. The gallery above is rendered by the real engine, not mocked up.

CB Embed is free, including inside a product you sell. CBHub is free for the first 1,000 users in 2026. CB Google Slides gives you 10 free sessions, no card. CB PowerPoint arrives September 2026.

I will be here all day. Tell me where your charts die today.

Nice launch congrats🙌 cool concept. how does this compare to just using something like excalidraw or native sheets charts

Great question Priya! Excalidraw - as I understand it - is really a standalone SaaS application, whereas we try to be 'close' to your workflow. So Chartbuddy is in your dashboard (through Chartbuddy Embed) or your desktop AI application talks to it over local MCP (on Chartbuddy Hub), or Chartbuddy is a chrome extension assisting you in Google Slides. Chartbuddy is close to your workflow and we try to make it such that you do not have to open yet another application!

The difference with Native Google Sheets charts is that they are simply not customisable enough for most business analysts. Business analysts want custom annotations like arrows, callouts, highlighting specific data points, etc... Chartbuddy offers that!

Thanks, glad you like it! Uhm, I think we are enabling wildly different charting use cases. A couple of differentiators, making us different from Excalidraw and Sheets charts:

  • Chartbuddy has an advanced business library, perfect for finance and strategy: waterfalls, mekkos, stacked bars, axis-breaks, smart annotations etc.

  • We offer very intuitive point-and-click UX, but you can also adjust the chart by prompting from from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor.

  • Our chart sits on real data, it's not a drawing, and stays editable across surfaces: users can start in AI, move it to Slack, edit/finish it in Google-Slides.

Hi there!
Since a few months, Wouter and I heard business analysts talk about how AI became central to their workflow. But there were simply no good charts for this usecase. LLMs could create them, but they were never quite right! So we are solving that now.

We love seeing what you create with our product. And we love talking about it with you.
Looking forward to the comments!

Tim
