I got tired of building my "second brain" in Obsidian
Hey PH family!
I’m the maker behind CatchNote.
I have a confession: I am a recovering digital hoarder. For years, I saved thousands of links, tweets, and articles into Notion, Obsidian, and Pocket. But the friction of tagging, titling, and sorting them was exhausting. Ultimately, they became a digital graveyard. I was spending more time managing my knowledge than actually using it.
So, I built CatchNote.
CatchNote is a local-first personal knowledge manager that completely eliminates the friction of organizing. It’s designed for doers, not system architects.
Here’s how it cures the digital hoarding disease:
Zero-Friction Capture: Just hit share. Our on-device AI (powered by a localized Phi-3 model) instantly reads the context, writes a 50-character summary, and auto-categorizes it. No tagging required.
No Notification Fatigue: Instead of spammy "Read this now!" push notifications, we use a subtle, color-coded badge system. It gently triggers the Zeigarnik effect, making you want to clear your unread saves without the productivity guilt.
100% Private & Local-First: Your data is yours. The AI inference happens directly on your phone. No API costs, no sending your private links to third-party cloud servers, and it works completely offline.
We are completely pre-launch and I wanted to share this with the PH community first.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by your own bookmarks, I’d love for you to try it out. I’m especially curious to hear your feedback on the on-device AI's auto-categorization accuracy and our "Revival Badge" UX.
Let me know what you think in the comments!
