I built an AI food scanner because my wife was stressed at the grocery store. Here's what happened

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Lewis, the creator of BrightBite AI.

Like many families, my wife Tiffany and I wanted to eat better. But trying to navigate complex ingredient lists, hidden allergens, and confusing marketing claims left us frustrated and stressed in the grocery aisles. Most nutrition apps were either too basic or required a degree in dietetics to understand.

So, I built BrightBite AI for her. It started as a simple tool to scan barcodes and get an instant, AI-powered breakdown of what's actually in the food — with a personalized safety score based on her specific dietary needs.

Tiffany loved it. She used it daily. And then she said, "Other people need this."

That's when BrightBite became a mission. I expanded it into a full platform that supports family profiles (parents, kids, medical diets), detects 80+ FODMAP triggers and 14 allergens, and even analyzes food labels from photos when barcodes aren't available.

We are officially launching on August 4th! Before we go live, I'd love to hear from this community:

Have you ever struggled with food sensitivities or confusing ingredient labels? What's the one feature you wish existed in a food scanner app?

I'll be hanging out in the thread to answer any questions about the build, the AI integration, or the app itself.
