Hi Product Hunt!
I built BreadHound because generic food apps aren't built for true bread enthusiasts. The trail of a delicious pastry in an otherwise mid-tier cafe or local bakery will never stand out. We are a brand-new, boot-strapped community on a mission to track the absolute best bakes on the planet—anything from artisanal sourdough and flatbreads to traditional ethnic breads and pan dulce.
The Tech Stack & Architecture:
We've built BreadHound on a modern, high-performance architecture optimized for global scale:
- The Engine (Capacitor & Lovable): Built as a hybrid application wrapped via Capacitor, delivering a highly responsive, native iOS and Android experience from a single codebase.
- The Vault (Supabase Postgres): Powered by Supabase, utilizing strict Row-Level Security (RLS) and server-side RPC functions to keep data connections lightning-fast while protecting our user directory from scraper bots.
- The Radar (PostHog & i18next): Armed with PostHog to map our global conversion metrics anonymously, paired with a complete react-i18next framework to automatically detect and serve the app in English or Spanish (will add more languages as needed).

Our map is intentionally curated and growing daily, so we need your help! Download the app, explore the map as a guest, and save your favorites to your personal Bread Box. If you love bread, I encourage you to sign up and review the best bake you last tried! I would greatly appreciate objective UX and performance feedback. I'll be right here in the comments answering questions all day long. Let's map the world's best crust!
