Follows and subscriptions dominate the internet, and both are broken. Follows are cheap, meaningless, and full of bots. Subscriptions have the opposite problem: high-friction, costly, and easy to regret. Bond creates a new type of online relationship built on trust with real commitment and no lock-in. We are trying to figure out the best use of this mechanism (e.g., bond to get exclusive access, bond to support a cause, bond to join a group chat or community about a specific topic, etc.).
