Do you truly enjoy training (anything physical) or do you do it to justify eating more pizza?
Quite honestly, I answer YES!! to both.
That said, I'm a movement junkie. I'm addicted to movement like there's no tomorrow. When I skate I disappear into a cloud for 2 hours. Martial arts, dance... the same. But I TRULY hated fitness exercises... because I went to dance conservatory and trained to be on the US wushu team and practiced aikido every day, I thought calisthenics and yoga were lame.
Two hip replacements and 1 metal wrist later (I HAD to do the skate ramp without protection because I got THAT good)... I came off my high horse and started doing the sumo squats, pigeon stretches and cat cow exercises like there was no tomorrow.
I thought, OH, these were the vitamins I was SUPPOSED to be taking but never did because I was able to bypass them and get to the fun stuff. Now that I'm older, I do feel wiser. I DID get my wings clipped in the most brutal way. Because the sport of wushu trains predominantly right sided jumps (the more rotations the higher the score)... all the athletes only had time to train 1 side. And we all developed severe imbalances in our bodies as a result. My training brothers all have prosthetic hips as well.
I'm now in my late 50s, and in my 20s, 30s, 40s and right up until my mid 50s I had Gumby flexibility.
Then one day, I couldn't walk anymore.
I felt guilty about keeping my dog (my running companion) and sent him to stay with my friend in Belgium who could run with him 10k a day. I had trouble walking to the corner to recycle my plastics and glass bottles. I had to get double hip replacement because I couldn't sleep anymore at night because of the pain. I tried 2 years of PT on myself to no avail. My doctors said I could take pain killers forever or get used to walking on crutches the rest of my life. After my first hip replacement I walked 1000 km and wrote a book about it that pretty much nobody read.
The app that I made now, BIONIC FIT actually helps me warm up these days and holds me ACCOUNTABLE. I can do whatever my monkey brain wants, BUT I do have to do it. And if Im going to ice skate for 2 hours, I'm going to be prepared and do my warmups beforehand.
I'm in it for the long haul now.
I tested the app on my kids class students (ages 10-13) training sword fighting, and they were so psyched to get points for training. I told them to SWIPE if an exercise was too hard, but they were set on doing the challenges and they were going to get those points come hell or high water. Greta ran to the grass to do the crane pose. The kids were doing shrimp squats and astro jumps because they were on the clock. Somehow the app made every second count. And that's what I wanted. I want to make every second count...
Try BIONICFIT and let me know what you think. Whatever feedback I get, I will take to heart and try to make the app better. Everyone gets to try it for 7 days for free,, so I hope you will.

(Google said I couldn't call myself a Movement Junkie because of the narcotics connotation, so they labeled me a Movement Fanatic. I'm ok with that too... and btw this is an iOS app... sorry for the Android developer feature video)
