How is BetterClaw Free Forever??????

Got this question 5 times today, so let me just answer it once properly.

Yes. Free forever. After 10 years too. No trial countdown. No "free for 90 days then surprise." No card needed to start
.

"But how? What's the business model?"

Your agent runs on a small container on our infrastructure. costs us cents per free user per month. The free tier limits (100 tasks, daily crons, 1 agent) keep that cost predictable.

Some free users eventually upgrade to pro when they outgrow the limits. $19/month from those users covers the free users who stay free forever. standard SaaS math.

That's it. That's the whole model.

"ok but what's ACTUALLY the catch? Are you selling my data?"

No. and I'm going to be specific about this because "" is what every company says right before they get caught not caring about privacy.

Your API keys are encrypted. Not just stored securely. Encrypted so that nobody on our team can see them either. Not our engineers, Not our support, Not me. We literally cannot read your credentials even if we wanted to.

Your soulmd, your conversations, your memory files: all encrypted. None of it gets sold, shared, or used to train anything. Ever.

Secrets auto-purge from agent memory after 5 minutes. This one exists specifically because of ClawHavoc. 1,467 malicious skills on ClawHub were silently exfiltrating .env files (every API key, every OAuth token) because credentials just sat there in plaintext indefinitely. On credentials enter memory when needed and vanish 5 minutes later. Even if something somehow got compromised, the window is 5 minutes not 5 months.

Visit . We're basically shouting security at you from every page. That's deliberate. After 500,000+ exposed openclaw instances, a zero-click RCE exploit, and supply chain attacks through the skill marketplace, security shouldn't be a footnote. It should be obnoxious. We chose obnoxious.

"So what DON'T you do that other free products do?"

No ads injected into your agent's responses. No throttling free users to make paid feel faster. No markup on your model costs (BYOK means your tokens go to your provider directly, we make $0 on your API usage). No gating basic features behind paywalls. free gets unlimited chat, smart context management, verified skills, Telegram, Slack. Same features as paid, just with usage limits.

"What's actually different on paid then?"

More tasks (unlimited vs 500). Longer memory (permanent vs 7-day). More agents (25 vs 1). Full skill installer. Managed LLM credits included. Bigger infrastructure. Priority support. Premium connectors like Meta Ads etc..

The limits on free are real. They exist because compute costs real money. But they're usage limits, not feature walls. The experience inside those limits is the same product.

The real "catch":

You'll probably hit the 100 task limit if your agent is actually useful to you. at that point you either optimize your usage or upgrade. That's not a dark pattern. That's the product working as intended.

We'd rather have 10,000 free users who genuinely use the product than 500 paid users who signed up because we pressured them.

- No card. No trial. No surprise billing in 2036 :)
