Building a multiplayer mafia browser game from scratch โ€” looking for feedback

byโ€ข

Hi Product Hunt community ๐Ÿ‘‹

I'm building BELLOCCO, a free online mafia browser game where players create criminal empires, compete with rivals, join families and build their own story.

Iโ€™m preparing for my Product Hunt launch and would love feedback from the community.

What features make you keep playing an online multiplayer game for months or years?

Some ideas I'm exploring:

  • deeper player economies

  • more social systems

  • competitive seasons

  • community-driven events

Would love to hear your thoughts!

Personally, I like when a game has authored storylines. Usually the free web games are just obvious โ€œnumber go upโ€ clickers filled with microtransactions and gated by advertisements every third click. I understand some monetizing would ultimately be needed, but if you find a way to make it unobtrusive and not pay-to-play youโ€™ll have something. I think thatโ€™s probably the biggest barrier.
