We built Basecut because the usual options all felt wrong: fake seed data misses real bugs, and full production copies are a privacy, compliance, and workflow nightmare. Basecut lets you create anonymized, production-like subsets of your PostgreSQL database that preserve real relationships and can be shared across your team as snapshots. Instead of everyone working from different local copies or brittle seed scripts, you can restore the same realistic snapshot into dev, staging, or CI and reproduce issues faster without moving unsafe data through test environments.
