BarkSkip - Stress-free Netflix for you and your reactive dog

by
BarkSkip is a Chrome extension that makes movie night peaceful again. It automatically warns you and skips past mapped triggers like barking dogs, doorbells, or loud noises on Netflix so your reactive dog stays calm. Stop hovering over the mute button! Works on your laptop (or via HDMI to your TV). Try it for free on 5 flagship movies, then upgrade to Pro for a $15 one-time fee to unlock the full, hand-mapped catalog. No monthly subscriptions.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Newton, the builder behind BarkSkip. BarkSkip was born out of pure exhaustion. My dog, Gus, is reactive to animals, doorbells, loud noises, and plenty of other things on TV. Movie nights turned into me anxiously hovering over the remote, ready to hit mute or fast-forward before he completely lost his mind and ruined the peace. If I was familiar with the movie, it was easy. If I didn’t know the movie? Impossible. I built BarkSkip so I could finally put the remote down. It’s a Chrome extension for Netflix that automatically skips the exact scenes that trigger your dog. Here’s how it works: 1. Install the extension and select your dog's specific triggers (Animals, Babies/Kids, Loud Noises, Scary Things, etc.). 2. Play a supported title on Netflix via your laptop (we usually run an HDMI cable to the big screen). 3. BarkSkip shows a brief on-screen warning and seamlessly skips past the trigger window. What it is (and isn't): 1. Chrome Only: It runs entirely in your desktop browser. (Because of platform limits, there are no smart TV or mobile apps yet!). 2. Hand-Mapped, Not Live AI: We don't rely on live AI audio detection that might miss a bark. Every trigger is meticulously hand-mapped and QA'd via subtitles and human review. 3. No Subscription Fatigue: You can test it on 5 free flagship titles (like Meet the Parents). If it works for your dog, the full catalog is a simple $15 one-time purchase. I’d love for you to try it out on one of our free titles and let me know what you think! I'm hanging out in the comments and am happy to answer any questions about the Chrome extension or Gus!

Finally tried BarkSkip during a horror movie and it caught the doorbell scene right before my dog even noticed. The free five-movie sample is a nice way to see if it works for your pup before paying the one-time fee.
