We originally developed AI role-play systems for sales training, but discovered a fundamental problem: even our own team wasn't consistently using practice sessions. The overhead of scheduling dedicated training time, combined with artificial scenarios that didn't match real customer conversations, made adoption challenging. This led us to a different approach - instead of simulating conversations, why not provide assistance during actual sales calls? Aya represents our solution: a desktop AI that observes real meetings and provides contextual support when you need it most. The technical implementation uses multimodal processing to understand both audio and visual context simultaneously. We've open sourced the project because we believe this concept has applications beyond sales - education, customer support, interviews, and other scenarios where real-time AI assistance could be valuable.
