What has kept you from using live wallpapers on your Mac?
Hi All!
I am a solo dev launching a native Mac live wallpaper app on July 28, and I
built it around the two things that kept me from ever using one myself:
battery anxiety and distraction.
So it renders real-time generative art on the GPU, but stops rendering
entirely, measured 0.0% CPU, the moment a window covers the desktop. And it frosts your screen when you step away, so it earns its keep even when you are not looking at it.
What I want to know from this community: what stopped you? Battery? Felt gimmicky? Distracting during work? Could not find art worth keeping? I have 17 days left to fix things before launch, so blunt answers are the useful kind.
If you want to poke at whether the art is worth it, a few real shaders run in
your browser here: embraarchive.com/atheria-live.html
