Hi Product Hunt 👋 I built this after I bought my first house and needed to lay my own hardwood flooring over the last few years (who would have guessed that there's little budget for renovations after a house purchase!). Before I built this, I would painstakingly have to measure and template every awkward edge, nook, and random other object. Now, with anyonecanlayafloor.com, not only can you see/adjust the whole floor at once to prevent any of those annoying small pieces/slithers but it gives you a full instruction guide and cut list as well as the exact amount of flooring you need. I also built the scribe tool: anyonecanlayafloor.com/scribe which is a large set of scenarios around awkward corners and objects without the need to use a ruler. No wall is perfect and so everything set out here is "relative" meaning these scenarios should adjust to your situation perfectly. It will play out these scenarios in 2d/3d and give instructions which I find really useful. Every other flooring calculator I found just divides room area by plank area and adds 10%. That doesn't tell you where to start, how thin your edge pieces will be, or what to cut. What you can do here: 📐 Draw your real room, including angled walls, bays and chimney breasts 🪵 Herringbone, chevron, brick, straight lay and mosaic ✂️ Every cut's edge lengths and corner angles, in mm or inches 📱 Numbered steps you follow on your phone, one piece at a time 🧱 A scribing modeller for out-of-square walls, pipes and door frames It's free, no sign-up. It's built for (first-time) DIYers, but I'd especially love feedback from anyone who's laid a floor, if they feel like any other feature would be helpful
