Anime avatar tools shouldn't have subscriptions
Most AI anime avatar makers I tried before building
Anumi had the same flow:
"Free trial → enter card → 7 days later, $9.99/mo billed
automatically → make 2 avatars → forget to cancel."
For a product where most users want ONE good output,
the subscription model feels predatory. Yet it dominates
the category.
We launched Anumi this week as the explicit anti-thesis:
$3.99 per credit, no subscription ever, free preview
without email or card. The bundle (avatar + sticker +
3 product mockups + 5 PFP crops + commercial license)
ships at the base tier instead of behind a premium gate.
Curious what the community thinks:
→ Is there a category where subscription is genuinely
the wrong model, but it's the default anyway?
→ Have you ever bought a subscription tool and
genuinely felt scammed by the renewal flow?
→ Would you pay 1 time $3.99 for an anime version of
your selfie? Or wait for free alternatives?
(If you want to try Anumi free: anumi.app/try — no
signup, no card.)
