Andrew Shorten (@ashorten) just announced a new Adobe Creative Cloud Product: "Experience Design" (XD, formerly Comet) 🎨 which seems like a direct competitor to the Mac-only app "Sketch" which is quite popular among UI and UX designers:
"""
Adobe XD makes it easy to undertake wire framing, visual design, interaction design, prototyping, previewing and sharing, by bringing together the tools you need for experience design into a single solution. We’re starting by delivering a basic set of tools in each of those areas, with the feedback we receive helping to determine the ultimate set of features that you need, while continuing to ensure we don’t compromise on delivering amazing performance and a comfortable design experience.

I have been using this in Alpha for a while now. I love it! I am a bit confused by the subheading used, as I don't see it as a Sketch competitor. In fact many of the people using it were Sketch users, like myself.
What Adobe XD does well, it is makes creating the screens and prototype so easy. I had been going through all of the other programs out there trying to find one that would work. And either they were too complicated, trying to build in the code part of app building, or too simple you couldn't make what you wanted. This is a wonderful medium area.
One of the best parts is the exporting. All your assets in the correct sizes ready to go. So, to me, once I got my project put together in XD, I was ready to build it live.

@mrkampmann "In fact many of the people using it were Sketch users, like myself." Keyword there seems to be "were". To clarify, did it or could it replace Sketch for you? I haven't had my coffee yet, but from what little I've seen it looks exactly like a Sketch competitor. I'm curious to hear more about it!

@dancyfits there was ongoing discussion during Alpha about that. I still use Sketch and while I can't speak for others, it seemed like there were at least some still using it. Longterm, I don't know if Sketch or Photoshop will win out long term for me. This article from one of Adobe XD's team shows how to import assets from multiple programs, including Sketch. https://medium.com/@laffertybug/...
My main thought in my original comment is that it is so much more than a Sketch competitor. Didn't know why it got that subheading.
On a more serious note, Sketch is great but this will definitely put magma under the feet of the Bohemiancoding team, also...can you hear that?
It's the sound of a thousand startups shrieking because their hip "design and sketching" tool has now been superseded by Adobe

@orliesaurus Just because adobe didn't it do in the first place sketch was born. I don't think you can discard an app that has become more of a platform with so many plugins. Its a tough start for Adobe. BTW it is the lightweight , no non sense UI baked with regular updates and a clear pricing scheme that made me invest my time and money to buy it and learn it.

I might be an alien among designers, but I guess sketch should start supporting Windows/PCs soon... Adobe definitely will.
